Haley Wood
"I aim to use traditionally functional household objects, such as rugs, as a mechanism for otherworldly storytelling. I enjoy the challenge of conveying complex emotions with a simple facial expression, and exploring the limitations of translating imagery to fibrous material."
"When looking at the world around me, I am typically drawn to the outlines of forms, then the colors within. I find inspiration in medieval marginalia, folk horror, antiquities and oddities, and all living creatures that display a great deal of personality. My desire is for each of my projects to tell a story to the viewer, whether it consists of a singular surface or multiple panels."
Haley Wood is a fiber artist living in Allston, Massachusetts. She has shown her work at the Abigail Ogilvy Gallery in Boston, the 2023 MassArt Auction, and the 2021 SPRING/BREAK Art Fair in NYC. Wood holds a BFA in Fibers from Massachusetts College of Art & Design. She has received the MassArt Milestone Grant, Marilyn Pappas Award, and the Barbara L. Kuhlman Award.
