                                                    Exploring Paris, the Latin Quarter in summer, a sudden rain.  As a traveller, so much of a place you are foreign to hides itself.  But there are rare moments when a city reveals itself unexpectedly.  Amidst a midday tangle of streets just off the Seine, an alley suddenly broadens into a street of cafes, bicycles, deliveries, people.  Blue sky appears, sunlight dazzles, the sudden shift of light sending the wet pavement into glistening color, a broken mirror reflecting the city, and in this moment perhaps even baring a little bit of its soul.
